Layla (Granada, 1984) and David (Madrid, 1974) recall that one day, during a ceramics class, they painted the Nike logo onto a rather shabby mug. That was the beginning of Rapiditas Studio. The simple, unpretentious way they tell the story reflects their approach to making art. They speak about their work with the same natural ease, as if the ideas had always existed and they had simply learned how to see them.

Yet beneath that apparent simplicity lies an uncommon creativity. Their work builds a fresh, playful and irreverent pop universe that moves between humour and nostalgia, exploring the symbols we have grown up with and the curious ability of everyday objects to become part of our collective memory.

Layla, a graphic designer, and David, a self-taught creative, found in clay a medium where drawing, sculpture and colour coexist in complete freedom. It is the same sense of freedom they sought in Cambil, a small village in the Sierra Sur region of Jaén, Spain, where they moved their home and studio a couple of years ago. From there, they continue to create with a single ambition: to preserve the excitement and sense of wonder that inspired them from the very beginning.
