Peixe Nero
Peixe Nero

Nerea Carpente Tielas (Vigo, 1989) has had the habit of drawing since she was a child —of drawing all the time—, so, although she is a ceramist, what differentiates her work is her drawing. Her decorations, made with ceramic pencil and watercolours made with chalk, blend intimately with her pieces thanks to the temperature at which the stoneware is fired and give a finish to her ceramics that closely resembles the illustration on paper.

Nerea knows a lot about modeling, firing and enamels —she is the one who formulates them— and her pieces are made manually from start to finish in her workshop, located in a village in the rural area of Covelo (Galicia), but her aspiration is to reach even further, to more natural processes. Cooking over wood, making clays with materials from her environment and continuing to research glazes are her chosen challenges. Her aim: to create pieces in which the most valuable aspect is the process itself.
