Clara Rêgo

Clara Rêgo's (Porto, 1985) artistic career reached a happy turning point when the COVID-19 lockdown made her move away from designing and painting tiles and return to moulding, but this time with even greater energy and intensity. Clara, a student of Fine Arts in London, with further studies in ceramics, illustration and comics in Portugal, her home country, went on to embrace the tangible and intangible power of clay. Her powerful sculptural pieces are mainly inspired by marine creatures and elements, rock formations, fungi and microscopic images, which she conceives of as energy totems with a soul and presence of their own. She also likes to think that they spiritually enrich the space they occupy. She is now focusing on increasing the size of her ceramic work and her projects, and on making her line of tiles more sculptural by combining them with ceramic moulding to create large surfaces that that merge with nature.
