Lucas Marcos Barquilla (Madrid, 1998) is an artist, craftsman and researcher based in Madrid. With a first degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s in the History of Art and Visual Culture, he entered the world of ceramics while still at university, under the guidance of a local professional ceramicist.

In this discipline, Lucas found a form of expression through which he could think with his hands and materialise ideas, which led him to start to use clay in his art while at the same time developing his Lkks ceramics project.

Lkks ceramics focuses on high temperature ceramics, mainly with signature glazes, using a completely handmade process that takes the aesthetic traditions of different countries around the world, combines them and brings them up to date. The resulting pieces have irregular shapes and glazes that are mixed together to produce intense colours and the sensation of different depths on the surface of the objects. His decidedly contemporary approach, together with his respect for traditional techniques and craftsmanship, has placed his pieces in exhibitions alongside those of artists of the stature of Mateo Maté and Miquel Barceló.
