Agustina Garrigou

Agustina Garrigou (Buenos Aires, 1985) trained as an industrial designer (UBA) and then completed a master's degree in furniture design (Elisava), but in the meantime she sought an activity that would release her from the computer screen, and that was when pottery came into her life. Four years later, and now a resident in Barcelona, what had started as a hobby then turned into a real vocation that led to a career change. Agustina was entranced by the process of making things with clay, a material so malleable that it allows her to convert it into almost anything. The works made by this ceramist, which reveal layer upon layer of deeply felt processes, are made by hand on the wheel and modelled, and then glazed utilising processes based on experimentation. In fact, every piece is an experiment for her; a process that can be altered time and again to offer a truly unique outcome. Agustina's creations allow the viewer to appreciate the carefully crafted shapes and volumes in contrast with surfaces that are more rustic, random and open to possibilities.
