Margarida Lopes Pereira

There is one material that unquestionably defines and distinguishes the creative work of Margarida Lopes Pereira (Lisbon, 1991)—upcycled sponge. Its texture, from both an aesthetic and sensitive perspective, captivated her, which led Margarida to unleash a very imaginative personal style. Her creative process is mainly based on traditional artisan techniques. This product designer and artist crafts her pieces by sewing upcycled sponge from furniture and industrial waste. By using essentially everyday objects as a source of inspiration, she creates unique contemporary pieces that challenge our visual expectations and raise questions about the future of the objects we create.
